Building on the success of its diet business, Gourmet Everyday has launched two new delivery services. Michelle Kobernick founded the Ferndale business in 2004, delivering home cooked meals based on the South Beach diet.

Initially, she contracted with a commercial kitchen to prepare meals, snacks and dessert each day. But demand much that she opened own kitchen and hired staff members to accommodate sales, she said.

With the new facility was able to expand the business into a dinner vice and corporate catering.

"We've helped hundreds of metro Detroiters lost weight over the last couple of years," she said.

Many of her customers exited the diet program but still wanted home delivery, she said. So, segueing into a dinner service was a natural.

Ranging from $7.95 to $12.95 per person, each meal includes a main dish, two side dishes and dessert. Some examples of entrees in soy flank steak, maple on and lemon chicken. There is also a children's menu with pizza, spaghetti, chicken strips and chicken quesadillas for $5.95 per person.

Customers do not have to sign up for a particular number of meals, but they are encouraged to provide 48-hour notice. The food arrives in a refrigerated cooler and takes minutes to prepare in the microwave or oven.

Orders can be made by phone or through the company Web site. The corporate catering menu includes, assorted sandwiches, fruit trays and breakfast.

Gourmet Everyday still delivers diet meals. Customers can sign up for three days, five days or seven days a week. Starting at $38.95 per person per day, the service costs more the fewer days you participate. Discounts are available for multiple people receiving delivery to the same home.

Kobernick works with a nutritionist and physician to make sure the meals are healthful.

"I love the idea that I am feeding quality, home-style, freshly prepared foods to people who haven't had it available to them," said Kobernick, 40, of Huntington Woods. "I love how convenient it is, how easy it is for everybody to be able to use this service. I'm so proud of this product. I know that it is something people should not be going without with their busy lifestyles."

A former health and physical education teacher, Kobernick and her husband, Michael, have four children.
